After an epic Friday night, our pals at Swisher Sweets are presenting a whole day of artists curated by the folks behind the amazing Swisher Sweets Artist Project. Hip hop, R&B, and pop – the Vulcan Gas Co. is going to be packed for this afternoon of music.
As with all of TuneCore’s Austin Takeover events, all of this is completely free, no badge or wristband required, and of course, features an open bar. The show goes from 12pm-6pm.

Talib Kweli
A household name across fans of all music genres, Talib Kweli has been a leader in the socially-conscious hip hop space for the past two decades. On top of his lyrical prowess and focus on spirituality, positivity, and intelligence, Kewli also founded the independent label Javotti Media. His six solo releases and his collaborations with Mos Def (Black Star), Hi Tek (Reflection Eternal) and others have made him a true fixture and model of success in the world of independent hip hop.
Fantastic Negrito
Fantastic Negrito (aka Xavier Dphrepaulezz) is an Oakland-raised musician and songwriter who has wowed critics over the past year with his fusion of blues, soul, roots and rock. Landing placements on TV shows like The Good Wife and Vampire Diaries and winning the viral NPR “Tiny Desk Concert” contest certainly haven’t hurt Dphrepaulezz’s reach and ability to strike a chord with fans. TuneCore was psyched to feature Fantastic Negrito in a 2015 episode of Swisher Sweets’ Convenience Store Sessions, and we are looking forward to his upcoming release, The Last Days of Oakland – hear the first single off of it below to hold yourself over!
Andy Allo
Andy Allo is truly a jack of all trades: on top of being an accomplished singer/songwriter, pianist and guitarist, the Cameroonian-born artist also dabbles in modeling and television acting. Andy’s albums dance the lines of pop, funk and rock, and her pleasant, soulful voice floats smoothly over a variety of instrumental arrangements.
EarthGang
Formed by MCs Johnny Venus and Doctur Dot while in high school in 2007, EarthGang drew on influences both in and outside of hip hop to craft a southern sound that lends itself to Pharcyde comparisons. On top of touring with acts like Mac Miller and Ab-Soul, the duo have released two EPs and three full-length albums, their most recent being November 2015’s Strays With Rabies.
Taylor Bennett
20-year old Chicago-based MC Taylor Bennett began rhyming in high school alongside Save Money Crew members like Vic Mensa and Towkio, and has come long way since. Brother of Chance the Rapper, Taylor has shown his ability to carry the torch in his own unique way, building a following with singles like “Happy Place” and “Broad Shoulders”, off of his debut release of the same title. He’s opened for YG, Nas and Curren$y and remains active in the community he grew up in.
Miya Folick
LA-based alternative artist Miya Folick creates buzzing, often dark but always captivating grunge-y folk songs. Lot of adjectives, sure, but her 2015 EP Strange Darling has drawn critical praise from the likes of Noisey, Bob Boilen (CMJ) and Pigeons and Planes, and Folick has been compared to Fiona Apple, Alanis Morrisette and PJ Harvey. Hear the self-titled single off of her EP below.
Buggs Tha Rocka
Based in Cincinnati where he grew up, Buggs Tha Rocka trades in the gangsta rap appeal for amusing and conscious rhymes placed nicely over eclectic beats. One-half of the duo Space Invadaz and founder of hip hop-jazz fusion group Gold Shoes, Buggs’ ability to innovate and spit garnered the attention of Talib Kweli, who invited the MC to join him on tour.
Treize Kush
We’ll let Treize Kush explain himself in his own words:
“I am very competitive and lazy. I am very passive towards most things unless it can cause harm to my family, money, and myself. I’m extremely aggro in the creative outlets I use to express myself in.”
